Announcement by the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Washington, D.C.
In the context of the ongoing measures aimed at ensuring public order and security, a nation-wide State of Emergency was declared for a period of 3 months in Turkey effective July 21, 2016. State of emergency is a measure permissible under the international law taken by many states when there is an imminent threat to its security and order, as it is the case with France who has recently extended for another six months the country wide state of emergency. The state of emergency will not affect the daily lives of
Turkish citizens or visitors travelling to Turkey and it does not include
restrictions to fundamental rights and freedoms. Furthermore, the measures will not involve any limitations regarding international tourism and aviation
traffic. There is no safety concern for our guests in any of our
destinations.
